I was desperate for sims 2 again after my physical copies stopped working and I tried origins but had no luck. So, like you, I saw the $6.95 ultimate collection on eBay and was also skeptical because it seemed too good to be true. I figured if it was a scam I would be out 7 bucks but at least I tried. But it works!! You buy it and they email you an account w/username and password for origins w the sims 2 ultimate collection loaded on it already. Mine works perfectly and I was also able to download cc on it as well.:).

Got mine back in December 2016 after someone created a thread in The Sims 2 forum saying that it was still possible to get the UC with help from support!I think that in 2017-2018, more and more people started to ask for the Sims 2 (proving that there's still a high demand for this game) and someone at EA said stop because of course they would prefer that customers buy their newer products (the Sims 4 is awful sorry.)This is nonsense! Bought my physical Sims 2 disks back in 2000's! (Ea got the money right?) So they should still support the game as physical Sims 2 don't work with Windows 10 because of that awful SecuRom!
?I'm sorry EA but you grew more and more lazy (and greedy) with the years! Just look at the Sims 2 (all the features, the animations.) and now look at the Sims 4 (just lazy game sorry) EA should be ashamed that a game released in 2014 is worse than a game released 10 years before.?.
For a limited time EA is offering The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection for free on their Origin PC gaming service. Instructions for how to get the game are available here. They’re pretty simple though, so let me explain the process.
If you already have an Origin account all you need to do is head over to the Origin code redemption page and log in. Enter the code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS and hit next. Hit next again and the game will automatically be added to your account free of charge.
If you do not have an Origin account already then you can sign up for one here. After you have an account follow the directions above. You’ll need to download the Origin client to your PC to play the game.
The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection contains the original The Sims 2 game as well as every expansion pack and stuff pack. Considering how heavily The Sims franchise relies on expansions, this is a ton of content being offered for free.
The Sims 2 is currently not available for purchase on Origin, so if you want the game this is the only way to get it at this time. EA has announced that they will no longer support the title, which already has a sequel available and another about to release.
The offer is only available from now until July 31st at 10am Pacific time, so be sure to redeem your code before then if you want to be able to enjoy The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection with your Origin account.
Recently EA offered The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection for free only to those who had previously purchased The Sims 2. It seems like they decided to open that up to all players though. An FAQ was put together to cover the end-of-life of The Sims 2 and the free offer. That FAQ can be found here.
